Clinch documentation
What Clinch is, and exactly how each part of it works. No feature here is hypothetical: every claim below describes the app as it currently runs.
What Clinch is
Clinch is built around one moment: the second or two before a shopper leaves your Shopify store. On desktop it detects the cursor crossing toward the top of the browser. On mobile, where there is no cursor to watch, it infers the same moment from behaviour, mainly a fast upward scroll. Either way, it shows a single-use offer naming the product or collection the shopper was actually looking at, then redeems that offer against a real Shopify order the moment they buy.
Nothing about that requires the shopper to have given you an email address, and nothing about it depends on advertising or tracking across other sites. It is the layer that runs while the shopper is still there.
Where to start
Setup first, then a page for each part of the product, in the detail a merchant actually needs before turning it on.
Getting started
Install to live offer in about ten minutes, including the app-embed step people miss.
How Clinch works
What triggers the offer on desktop and mobile, what the code is scoped to, and the limits that stop it being farmed.
Margin guard
Reads each product's cost and trims or skips the offer rather than sell a single unit below your floor.
Product and collection targeting
Run Clinch everywhere, only on a list you choose, or everywhere except a list you choose.
Proof mode
Holds the offer back from a share of shoppers so the lift it reports is measured, not assumed.
Order attribution
Every recovered sale carries a real Shopify order ID, and a refund reverses the fee automatically.
Pricing and billing
The three plans, how the usage fee is calculated, and how the early-access waiver works.
Data and privacy
What Clinch reads and stores, what it never asks for, and how data is removed on uninstall.
What Clinch deliberately does not do
- No email or SMS. Clinch has no sending features at all. It is meant to sit alongside Klaviyo, Postscript, or whatever you already run, not replace it.
- No invented metrics. Every number Clinch reports is either a real Shopify order ID or a measured statistic with its margin of error shown. It will say "not enough data yet" rather than print a guess.
- No behaviour on by default that costs you margin. The margin guard and product targeting are both opt-in, and a fresh install scopes every code to the product or collection the shopper viewed rather than discounting the whole cart.
Common questions
What is Clinch?
Clinch is a Shopify app that watches for the moment a shopper is about to leave the store and shows them a single-use discount code on the specific product or collection they were viewing. It requires no email address and works on both desktop and mobile.
How is Clinch different from an email or SMS recovery tool?
Email and SMS tools like Klaviyo and Postscript can only reach a shopper who reached checkout and left an address. Clinch acts earlier and needs nothing from the shopper, so it reaches the larger, anonymous group those tools cannot see at all. The two run alongside each other, not in place of one another.
How much does Clinch cost?
Free is $0 per month plus 10% of the revenue Clinch actually recovers. Pro is $29 per month plus 3%. Growth is $99 per month with no revenue share. Every plan is free of that revenue share for the first 30 days after the offer goes live. See the pricing and billing page for the exact fee calculation.
Can Clinch discount a product below what it costs me?
Not once the margin guard is turned on. It reads the Cost per item you set in Shopify and trims or skips the offer rather than cross that floor. The guard is off by default, so turn it on before running Clinch on a catalog with tight margins.
What data does Clinch access?
Order IDs, order totals, and discount codes, to attribute a sale to an offer. No name, email, phone number, or address is requested. Full detail is on the data and privacy page.
Try it on your own store
Clinch is free to install. The Free plan costs $0 per month and takes 10% of revenue it actually recovers, so if it recovers nothing you pay nothing.
