Pricing and billing

Three plans, billed through Shopify's own billing system. Here is exactly what each one costs and how the usage fee on a recovered order is worked out.

The three plans

PlanMonthly priceFee on recovered revenue
Free$010%
Pro$293%
Growth$990%

All three are billed through Shopify's own Billing API, so charges appear on your regular Shopify invoice rather than a separate one.

How the usage fee is actually calculated

The fee is not a percentage of the entire order. It is a percentage of whatever subtotal the Clinch code actually discounted. A code scoped to one product only discounts that product's price, so the fee applies to that product's subtotal, even if the shopper's cart also contained other, unrelated items. A store-wide code, the kind used on a cart page or a free-shipping offer, has nothing to isolate, so the fee applies to the full order in that case.

This means a product-scoped discount never ends up charging you a share of revenue the code had nothing to do with.

Early access: the first 30 days free of commission

The first 30 days after your offer goes live, counted from when you turn Clinch on rather than from install, carry no revenue-share fee on any plan. A monthly base price on Pro or Growth still applies during that window; it is only the usage-based fee that is waived.

Usage caps

Shopify's usage-based billing requires an approved spending cap, which you approve once when subscribing. Clinch prompts you to raise it once usage reaches 80% of the current cap, so a strong month is never interrupted by a charge failing silently.

Common questions

Do I pay anything if Clinch recovers nothing?

On Free, no. It costs $0 per month and the only charge is a percentage of revenue Clinch actually recovers, so a month with no recoveries costs nothing. Pro and Growth carry a flat monthly price regardless of recoveries.

Is the fee based on the whole order, or just the discount?

Neither exactly. The fee is a percentage of the subtotal your code actually discounted, not the full order total. If a code was scoped to one product and the shopper's cart also had unrelated items, the fee applies only to that product's subtotal.

What does the early-access period mean?

The first 30 days after your offer goes live are free of the revenue-share fee on every plan. The monthly base price on Pro or Growth still applies during that window; only the usage fee is waived.

What happens if a recovered order gets refunded?

The fee tied to that order is credited back automatically. You are never charged on revenue that was later returned.

Try it on your own store

Clinch is free to install. The Free plan costs $0 per month and takes 10% of revenue it actually recovers, so if it recovers nothing you pay nothing.
